What is the process to determine if I need varicose vein treatment?
Determining whether you need varicose vein treatment starts with a clinical evaluation by a vein specialist. This includes reviewing your medical history and risk factors, performing a physical exam of the legs, and completing a non-invasive venous ultrasound. These findings are used together to determine whether treatment is appropriate and what type of procedure may be recommended.
The process to determine whether a venous procedure is indicated begins with a patient evaluation. We meet with the patient, review their medical history, and identify any risk factors that may predispose them to venous disease.
We then examine the legs and perform a physical exam. After that, we strongly recommend a diagnostic ultrasound. This ultrasound is non-invasive, takes only a few minutes, and is typically performed on both legs.
Using the ultrasound results, along with the patient’s history and physical exam findings, we develop an individualized treatment plan.

Still Relying on Compression Stockings?
For many patients, compression therapy can help manage symptoms but it may not address the underlying vein condition. Our board-certified vascular surgeons offer comprehensive evaluations to determine whether minimally invasive treatment is appropriate for you.
