Who qualifies for vein treatment?
Patients who qualify for vein treatment typically have symptoms of venous disease such as aching, burning, pain, swelling, varicose veins, or leg ulcers that persist despite conservative care. When symptoms interfere with daily activities and do not improve with measures like compression stockings, exercise, and leg elevation, vein treatment is often effective and commonly covered by insurance.
Venous disease can present in many forms, including varicose veins and leg ulcers. Patients may experience aching, burning, pain, or swelling in the legs, and some people have one or several of these symptoms.
Initial treatment usually involves non-procedural methods such as wearing compression stockings, avoiding prolonged standing, regular exercise, and elevating the legs.
However, many patients continue to have significant symptoms despite these measures—sometimes to the point that pain or discomfort interferes with work or normal daily activities. In these cases, vein treatments can be very effective and are generally covered by insurance.
